Why Ask For Donations?

Running a website can be a costly business, especially when done on an all-volunteer basis! SouthlandTvFans.com is a labor of love by ALL that are involved, but especially so on the part of its founder & webmaster, Bob Parker (me).

All of my TIME is volunteered happily, to promote what I consider to be one of, if not THE, best television dramas to hit the airways in a long, long time. I am certain that the other members of the @cudlitz Army feel this way as well, or they would not spend their time working so tirelessly on the project. The HOSTING is also paid for, donated by our company Complete Internet Consulting, Inc. in exchange for “advertising” in the form of the “Sponsored & Hosted by” graphic that you see on most of the pages.

All that aside, there are material costs involved in running a website like this. Domains must be registered (.com, .net, .org, .biz, .info), to generate traffic, we need to advertise, promotions have to be run, prizes for contests need to be purchased, and now we have monthly expenses for the new Live Chat service – all sorts of things need to be done. Our recent petition drive to get SouthLAnd renewed cost $693.74, but we only received $662.43 in donations (after PayPal fees were taken out). That doesn’t even begin to cover the cost of things like shipping contest prizes or domain name registrations.

Donation All Stars

Donations to date from our major SouthLAnd fans, that helped us reached nearly 5,000,000 (yes, that’s 5 MILLION) people through Google and Facebook ads during the Renew SouthLAnd Petition drive. We can’t rest on our laurels, though, because the work is not done! We MUST continue the work!

Every Dollar Helps

We aren’t asking for millions of dollars from people! Our goal is not to get rich – in fact, nobody gets ANY personal gain from any of this! All donations go directly into the site, either to pay for money already spent, or to offer even more for the fans in the way of contests or promotions. Even contributions of $1 help in the long run.

No Personal Gain

Yes, I’m repeating myself, but it bears repeating. Nobody is getting any personal gain from this website, or from donations (or sales or advertising) made via this website! All income from, and donations made to, this website go directly towards the costs of running this website or running contents to promote the site and the show SouthLAnd on TNT.

If (and that’s a big IF) there is any money above and beyond those actual expenses, every single penny will be donated to the Los Angeles Police Foundation, the official foundation of the Los Angeles Police Department. If you prefer to donate directly to them, by all means, please visit their site for more information on how to do so.

Not Tax Deductible

We are NOT a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit! Donations to SouthlandTvFans.com cannot be deducted from your taxes as a charitable contribution. Per IRS regulations, all donations are reported as “income” to Complete Internet Consulting, Inc. (or Robert Parker d/b/a Complete Internet Consulting, depending on the date of the donation) and taxed accordingly.

Anyone can receive a full financial report of the income and expenditures of SouthlandTvFans.com by sending a request, in writing, along with a self addressed stamped envelope to the mailing address on the Contact Us page. Be advised that donor confidentiality will be protected unless permission has been given to release that information.
