TVGuide.com: Southland’s Ben McKenzie on His Love for C. Thomas Howell
by Candice on Mar.29, 2010, under Cast, Interviews
From TVGuide.com:
All week I’ve been trying to come up with a subject for this blog post. It’s not that I don’t have plenty to choose from as “The Runner” features a new partner for Lydia, the murder of a college athlete, and a trip to desert for John and Ben. Rather, I think I’ve been a bit overly serious in some prior posts and I want to have fun on this one. So, without further ado, a little love letter to one of my favorite actors, who also happens to work on “Southland.” C. Thomas Howell. I love C. Thomas Howell.

From MovieWeb:
Southland has proven itself to be one of the best cop dramas ever produced for television. With an explosive second season nearing its end, each new episode has been better than the last. It truly is must-see TV. Sadly, year two of this action-packed procedural was cut short when NBC decided to cancel the show just six episodes into its fall shooting schedule. Those six episodes are currently running on TNT, where the series has continued to amass a rabid fanbase. This Thursday, March 30th, brings us Episode 2.05: “What Makes Sammy Run?”. And it’s a very important episode for gang Detectives Nate Moretta (Kevin Alejandro) and Sammy Bryant (Shawn Hatosy). When two gangsters open fire in a crowded club and kill a couple of local bangers, it is revealed that one of them has a connection to an officer. Meanwhile, tensions rise between Sal (Michael McGrady) and Gil (Laz Alonso) on the gang task force, while Sammy must confront his wife, Tammi (Emily Bergl), after discovering that she has been out photographing gang members.

Regina King: NBC Is Like ‘a Horrible, Drug-Addict Mom’
by Bob Parker on Mar.16, 2010, under Cast, Interviews
From the New York Magazine’s Vulture:
On TNT’s Southland, which airs the first of the final four episodes that NBC commissioned and canceled tonight, Regina King (Jerry Maguire, Ray) plays detective Lydia Adams, a tough yet emotional officer whose partner, played by Tom Everett Scott, was shot in last year’s season-ending cliffhanger. (He lived, and returned this season, albeit in an off-duty capacity.) We spoke to King about learning to walk like a cop, and why NBC was a horrible, horrible parent.
How did you feel when NBC canceled your show before the second season even aired?
It was disappointing. It was very disappointing, there’s no denying that. But I never had the feeling that the show was going to be over. I felt like we were going to go someplace else. It was hard to see this many people putting this much energy into something and think it might go away, just because of a couple of people who aren’t really that smart over at NBC. I could not believe that.
How is TNT treating you?
