TNT Renews Acclaimed Series SOUTHLAND for Third Season
TNT has booked a third season of its critically acclaimed drama SOUTHLAND, from Warner Bros. Television and Emmy®-winning producer John Wells (ER, The West Wing). The network has ordered 10 episodes for the third season, which is slated to begin airing in January 2011.
“SOUTHLAND is a challenging, visceral show that engages viewers with its immersive style, provocative storylines and complex characters,” said Michael Wright, executive vice president, head of programming, for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “These qualities have made SOUTHLAND a favorite among critics and appointment viewing for an extremely loyal audience.”
Created by Emmy® winner Ann Biderman (NYPD Blue, Public Enemies), SOUTHLAND takes a raw, authentic look at police work in Los Angeles. The series focuses on officers, detectives and members of a gang unit as they endure the triumphs and tragedies that populate their lives both on and off the job. The series is shot on location in the streets and neighborhoods of Los Angeles.
SOUTHLAND’s ensemble cast includes Kevin Alejandro (Drive, Ugly Betty); Arija Bareikis (Crossing Jordan); Clifton Collins Jr. (Capote, Star Trek); Michael Cudlitz (Band of Brothers, A River Runs Through It); Shawn Hatosy (Alpha Dog); Regina King (Ray, Jerry Maguire); Michael McGrady (The Thin Red Line, Day Break); Ben McKenzie (The O.C.); and Tom Everett Scott (Boiler Room, That Thing You Do). SOUTHLAND is executive-produced by Wells, Biderman and Emmy® winner Christopher Chulack (ER, Third Watch), who also serves as a primary director of the series. (continue reading…)
Happy Birthday Emily Bergl
by Cathy Lipscomb on Apr.25, 2010, under Cast, Cast Birthdays
Happy Birthday to Emily or as we know her best, Tammi Bryant. We still don’t know what makes the marriage work between her and Sammy but there have been some strange moments between the two. From the very first episode with her calling Sammy to ask him to come home and make a baby with her, to taking pictures of gang members and skateboarders whom one of them she invited home to smoke some pot then he stole her camera and laptop, we never know what Tammi is going to do next.
What we do know is that Emily is an accomplished actress in not only television, but film and theatre. She has been in The Rage: Annie 2 to various tv shows from Grey’s Anatomy, ER, NYPD Blue, CSI: Miami and where I first came to love her as the eccentric Annie in Men in Trees.
Please join us in wishing Emily a very Happy Birthday by adding your well-wishes in the comment below
Help Spread the Word to Renew SouthLAnd
by Bob on Apr.16, 2010, under Renew SouthLAnd
Thanks to one of our supporters (@alt_eleanor) we have a variety of graphic buttons available to spread the word about our petition!
To use any of these, simply copy & paste the code for the image of your choice onto your website or blog. Quite honestly, I’m not an expert on Facebook, so other than linking to the URL (http://RenewSouthland.com) I’m not sure what the best way is to add the petition to your Facebook profile is – perhaps someone more Facebook-savvy can enlighten us with a comment?
Here are the graphics and the code needed to add them to your pages. Please note that the code wraps here, so when you paste it on your page, double check that it’s all on one line and there are no gaps or spaces in the link text! (continue reading…)
Thanks to donors, we are advertising!
by Bob on Apr.16, 2010, under Renew SouthLAnd
Thanks to the generous donations of several ardent SouthLAnd supporters, SouthlandTvFans.com is now running advertising campaigns for our Renew SouthLAnd campaign on both Google AdWords and Facebook in order to attract as many people as possible to sign the petition. Massive gratitude to @AEC702, @pinelou, Lisa, Jenn, Deb and Anonymous. Combined they have donated nearly $600 in just 2 days!
This is a huge step for us! While the site has been running for over 6 months now, this marks the first time that anyone has actually made a cash contribution to the website and it couldn’t have come at a better time. At this writing we have over 1,650 signatures on the petition but we could be doing a LOT better. The only way to do that is to get the word out to the fans and get them over here to sign it.
After all – there are almost 125,000 fans of SouthLAnd on Facebook. Since we don’t run the Facebook Fan Page (TNT does), we can’t exact send an email to all of them to let them know about this campaign, nor can we force them to visit the Fan Page to see the posts. So advertising on Facebook is the next best thing, by targeting those users through their interests.
Google Advertising, through Google Search and affiliated content networks, is more “hit or miss” but also more far reaching. You can see Google AdWords ads on virtually any website on the internet and with SouthLAnd’s broad appeal, the number of “keywords” that we can target is extremely wide & varied.
The bottom line is, we are doing our part to get the word out. The big question is, are you? How many people have YOU told about the petition and got to sign it? Have you shared one of the links on your Facebook profile? Have you shared it via Facebook Email to all your friends? What about your non-Facebook friends? Have you emailed, IM’d or talked to them?
Not everyone has to give cash to contribute to the campaign (although donations ARE appreciated!). It’s amazing, wonderful and generous that those 6 people did! What we really need in the long run, however, is signatures. Cash helps us reach that ultimate goal through advertising, but everyone can help us reach that goal by simply reaching out to the people they know and getting them to a) sign the petition and b) spread the word to people THEY know.
Do you have a website, blog or Facebook page? Stay tuned for the next post and we’ll give you some great graphics and code that you can use to help spread the word – all you need to do copy & paste!
As always, Thank You to everyone for your support of SouthLAnd! No matter what happens your dedication to this show is 1st class!
