‘Southland’ cop sounds off on NBC cancellation and TNT rescue
By ERIC HEGEDUS
The cancellation of “Southland” by NBC mere weeks before the 2009 fall season in favor of the now defunct Jay Leno show was a true shocker. Was the series too gritty or too profane for mainstream audiences? Luckily, TNT resurrected the series and will broadcast six previously unaired episodes starting Tuesday night.
NBC’s decision understandably upset the cast and crew. Michael Cudlitz, who plays brusque veteran LA cop John Cooper, said he was “kinda pissed” in a string of Tweets, adding that “people need to know when they f—k up this big.”
Cudlitz, 45, has moved on. The Flushing native and former Lakewood, NJ, resident, has aroused a lot of interest in his portrayal of Cooper, who has many personal issues, including his developing gay identity, a prescription drug dependency and a job-threatening back injury, and an ex-wife who figures into his pill-popping problem.

The Two Cents Recap & Review: 107 Derailed (season finale)
by Candice on Feb.28, 2010, under Episode Recaps, Reviews
From TheTwoCents.com:
It’s what we’ve been waiting for … some of us longer than others. The season one (aka “the original episodes) ending. The season two previews have been everywhere and I can’t wait for it! But in the meantime, we had to see what season one had us ending with. I will be honest, I was so excited I watched it already and will watch it again to review it – it’s just THAT good. I just have to thank Jay Leno for making it possible for Southland to get a new life at TNT. It’s the best thing that ever happened! Now, on with the season finale …
Opening flashback scene: Brown, Dewey (yes, he’s back), Sherman and Cooper standing over a trunk with a dead body in it. The voiceover says: Holiday weekends are notoriously busy for the police. Our officers had made plans for the weekend, but they were derailed.

The Two Cents Recap & Review: 106 Westside
by Candice on Feb.28, 2010, under Episode Recaps, Reviews
From TheTwoCents.com:
Well season one is coming to an end. Granted, most of you have probably already seen these episodes, but that’s okay. The previews for season two look beyond amazing and the actors are excited for what’s coming (how do I know that? I did a four-part interview series with the stars. Make sure to check out part one with Tom Everett Scott!). For now, let’s see what our favorite officers and detectives are up to for now.
Flashback scene: Officer Sherman is in bed with a girl. Voiceover: “Officer Ben Sherman knew that it was against police policy to get involved with a victim. But he did it anyway.”
Flashback to a man in the backyard of his beautiful big house, his daughter (the girl in the opening scene) asking him for a ride to pick up her car and she goes back inside when he says he will do it later. As the man looks in on his house, he sees men robbing it. Sherman and Cooper are on the scene. Cooper questions the father about the jewelry and insurance information and they figure the robbers got in through the open garage. Meanwhile, Adams is finally getting down with lunch-date guy from last week (or was it two weeks ago? Either way, it’s lunch-date guy…). She gets called away and he looks frustrated, although she looks quite happy. Cooper questions the daughter, Daisy, on phone numbers of who had access to the house. She happens to know Ben (remember: he’s a rich kid-turned-cop) and they catch up on old times. Adams and Clarke get called to the robbery and are annoyed to be called in on their day off, especially since it’s not a homicide. It’s Bel Air, and the rich people contribute to the police so what they want goes.

The Two Cents Recap & Review: 105 Two Gangs
by Candice on Feb.28, 2010, under Episode Recaps, Reviews
From TheTwoCents.com:
Today’s opening scene is Salinger (man, he’s been missing for a while) spitting out blood in a street. Voiceover: “It’s said a recurring nightmare for police officers is losing their gun. For Detective Salinger, the nightmare has just come true.”
Three hours earlier…
Bryant is yelling for Tammi to come to bed but she’s busy smoking pot in the bathroom (the pot she got last week using the dog), only she’s not smart enough to realize the dog can smell the drugs and Bryant tells her to flush it. Seriously, I’m not sure how many more episodes I can take of her! Det. Adams gets home late to her mother who heats up dinner for her and discusses selling the house. Adams asks her mother what if she goes to Paris and it’s not what she thinks it’s going to be and then she has nothing to come home to. She says ya gotta live a little (Lydia should take the advice..). Officers Cooper and Sherman are called to a house by a man but a woman answers a door and says the man who called is fine. She threw a cat at him who then attacked him – he doesn’t press charges and they leave (I have a feeling this isn’t over…). Det. Salinger is back to making out with TV girl (Mia) in a car. He’s happy and blasting the radio and singing on his way home (tipsy?) as two cars come racing towards him. As he swerves to avoid them, he hits a pole and one of the cars comes back and and the guys realize he’s a cop and take his gun while he’s out of it. He comes to and realizes his gun is gone but the guys have already left.

The Two Cents Recap & Review: 104 Sally in the Alley
by Candice on Feb.28, 2010, under Episode Recaps, Reviews
From TheTwoCents.com:
Opening scene o’the week: Kids playing in an alley throwing rocks at dead woman, taking pictures of her on their cell phones. Voiceover: “Dead unidentified female victims in Los Angeles are often called Sally in the Ally. Our detectives wanted to give this one a name.”
Detectives Moretta and Bryant are talking about family stuff – Moretta about his kid and Bryant about how his wife wants a camera. Meanwhile, Moretta’s phone keeps going off and he finally answers and it’s his dad…his sister is missing, but it’s a normal occurrence. They go to the “Sally in the Ally” case and a witness says the woman has been there for 18 hours. She’s naked and had been strangled with a rope. In a whole other place, Det. Adams is on a date, an awkward date. While her date is having a good time, Lydia seems to want to run in the opposite direction. She tells her date she moved in with her mother to take care of her when she got ill but now she’s doing well and moving to Paris. I’m not so sure I believe this, but, who knows. Her date asks if she can call her again when she runs out when she gets a page. Clarke is in a class when he gets a call. Is it the dead woman’s sister from last week? I think it is. Oh man, don’t go there! Adams finally meets up with Clarke and they head to the coroner’s office to help on the Sally case. The fingerprint machine at the scene was broken and the coroner won’t fingerprint her in the morgue. Adams is fighting like hell for this girl, but he is having none of it. At the station, one of the “regulars” comes in to make a report while the other detectives finds the video the kids took of the Sally on YouTube.
